Oxford - Salford - Rome
An early morning departure from Oxford.
It's a beautiful city, no two ways about it, although one can't help notice how much of the beauty and history is behind gates and walls.
Which serves as some kind of analogy for the fact that so many of the students we encountered in the various pubs and bars we visited were white and (upper) middle class. Diversity is definitely not the university's strong suit. The best one could say is that there was, at least, a good representation of women.
Anyway...
I had a very pleasant drive up to Salford, followed by a very leisurely afternoon at home with the Minx before Hannah came 'round and we took a taxi to the airport where we met up with Charlie.
Everything went smoothly from there: pre-flight drinks, an uneventful flight (the best kind!), and a very reasonably priced taxi into Rome.
