Goosander

Today I walked to the ponds at Duntreath to see how the swans are doing. They aren't nesting but will be soon. The ponds are part of Duntreath estate. Duntreath Castle where the laird, Sir Archibald Edmondstone,  lives is just round the corner. Sir Archie arrived with a bag of bread and asked me to give the bread to the swans to save him clambering up the bank so we had a bit of a chat while I did that. He told me there were goosanders around and I was delighted  to spot 2 males on the smallest pond. I hope some ladies arrive soon and that they nest here.

The extra shows the heron which flew over.  Just as I managed to reset the camera as it landed in a tree.
