Sashiko

The ancient Japanese art of conserving fabrics. As with many crafts, it has evolved and could be considered as a decorative art medium. More recently, it has been having a revival as a means to repair and embellish damaged and second-hand clothing. Little moth holes, those irritating holes you find at the front of the tee-shirt, can all be mended in an effort to prolong the life of a garment.

Today was interesting and surprisingly mindful, with my focus being on the stitch, the spacing, and the flow of the design.

As if that's not enough for one day, I then come home to find the Toon were winning. My father in law remembers the 1955 victory. The man has never seen his team hold silverware until today, and my boy has now seen his Scottish and English teams hold trophies aloft. Ha'way the Lads. They played out of their skins, while Liverpool seemed tired after their mid week defeat.
