Ship's Mouse-house
Doesn't that look a snug dwelling - even with its waterproof roof folded back.
As dinghy sailing starts on Bassenthwaite again in a couple of weeks we have been checking the training boats to see how they have fared over the winter. The spinnaker bag in the bows of the Omega was on its last legs in the autumn and due for replacement. During the cold weather one of its pockets has been re-used and recycled. Dried leaves and chewed off pieces of cover have created a pleasing decor of umber and powder-blue, scented heavily with 'eau-de-souris'. Sadly, with the spinnaker bag removed, the occupant is now homeless and will have to go begging for a hole under the tree roots nearby, where all the other mice live.
