Plants and trains
It’s been cloudy for most of the day today - though windless and dry. It was only at 4pm as I sat down to write this that the sun came out, but it’s beginning to sink into a huge mass of cloud, so that’s it for the day.
I’ve been planning a visit to my sister in suburban London at the end of the month, and booked my train tickets yesterday. What I’m struggling with is travel insurance - all I need to insure is the train ticket, but I can’t find anything so simple! I don’t need twenty million medical insurance!
Went down to the station this morning to collect my tickets and replace my Senior Railcard. Now all I have to do is to work out how to make the best use of my time, who to see and where to go. I usually spend a couple of days up in town with my camera - so many places to see, so many parks, roof gardens, pubs, riverside walks and people to chat to. I’m really looking forward to it.
Rather an emergency Blip today. Over the last year or two I've been helping out at Dunollie, an Oban estate where the castle and garden are open to the public. I've been involved in new planting ideas and we've acquired many interesting new trees and shrubs. I'm growing on a few of mine to donate to the garden - here are three of them. From left to right, Euphorbia mellifera, Piptanthus nepalensis and Embothrium coccineum. They'll probably go to the garden in a couple of months.
