Time flies
Who would have thought a couple of months ago, we'd be spending the day at a game boarders' convention?! Amazingly, we're looking forward to going back next year.
It's a surreal and diverse new world of escapism that we didn't know existed - and it's really lovely. We thought that we'd enjoy a few hours and be home at the latest by 6pm. This is us looking back into the gaming hall at 8pm with so many people still enjoying games. We were there ten hours!
We had a few tips from pros on how to spend our day and enjoyed nosing round the exhibition hall in between coffees and, after lunch, we played a mass game of Flip 7. We had planned to play some demo games on the stands in the afternoon but we got chatting to a guy and his son who live not too far from us and he invited us to play a game with them. We ended up playing three!
In between those, we investigated role play games which I hadn't expected to be my thing - and they weren't but Rich wanted to find out more as he didn't know anything about them. It was good that we both came to the same conclusion from a joint hobby perspective. I can see why people like them but my brain doesn't work for creative and spontaneous role play.
We met a few of our Otley group at the charity raffle. It has to be the best raffle I've ever seen. Eight bonanza lots of board games up for grabs and nearly £9000 went to two local charities.
