Adventures

We've really hadsome excellent weather for mum's visit which is nice as usually the weather is terrible when people come and see us.  We were up early doors to drive to Gourock to catch the ferry across the Dunoon (it's always an adventure if you have to get a boat) and then headed up to the Benmore botnci gardens.  They call them 'mountain gardens' and there's mainly trees and rhododendrons, but they are rather fantastic tress and rhodos.  Again, a day where I was missing the big camera, the phone really doesn't do things justice.

The gardens had quite a bit of storm damage so the higher reaches were all still closed off, however they were still very worth a visit and my favourite bit was the fernery. Those rich  Victorians certianly had some fun ideas when it comes to gardening.

The afternoon was spent hunting down lunch in Dunoon. I regaled mum and P with my tales from PGL when a group of kids form Dunoon came to stay for a week. I asked them what Dunoon was like and the answer was "There's nothing there. Except a factory that makes mugs". There's  not quite nothing in Dunoon, but it's not the biggest place in the world. Stunning on a day like today nestled on the edge of loch long amongst the hills. Feels quite remote but then you can see all of the industrial bits of Greenock and Port Glasgow just across the water too.  Think we'll be back.
