Tonic With That?

Well, we managed to oversleep this morning, and miss our excursion which was scheduled to depart at around 7:00 a.m.  Last night, the world cruisers were treated to a gala dinner under the stars in the world's oldest desert, the Namib.  We didn't get back to the ship until after midnight!

As described to us:  "Our journey amidst this 80-million-year-old realm of untold mysteries -- known by the Nama people as "the land of open spaces" -- leads to a dry riverbed where the sci-fi movie Mad Max was filmed, now transformed into an elegant sanctuary created exclusively for us.  Here, with the setting sun igniting the towering rock walls in brilliant amber hues, we'll toast nature's magnificence with cocktails and dine al fresco by candlelight on an exquisite menu of African specialties.  As a constellation-studded sky wheels overhead, the rhythmic melodies of a Namibian Marimba Band and the warmth of a crackling fire transform this timeless desert into an intimate gathering of kindred spirits."  It really was a very special evening.

Speaking of spirits, this is a photograph of just some of the many varieties of gin available on board!  I love all the colours!
