A Meandering Life...

Akaroa's Majestic Hector's Dolphins

This afternoon we ticked off another adventure by seeing the Hector's dolphins out at the Banks Peninsula. We last saw them over 17 years ago. Boats have improved since then.

The first spotting were of a mother and calf who briefly passed our boat before I could photograph them. It was advised to film our encounters as getting a good shot of these elusive creatures was near impossible. They don't move around in large pods and being about 1.2M long you could easily miss them. I think we saw about 10 sightings over a 15 minute period.

My two snaps of the dolphins are screenshots from video I took.

The fluffy baby fur seal was spotted before the dolphins.

My other postcard is a before and after of a piece of wall art in central Christchurch. I first Blipped it as an extra on the 12th February when it was still being worked on. I asked the artist how long it was going to take and he hoped before I got back to the city. Well he was right.

Tomorrow is our last full day with the car in New Zealand, it has been incredible! I forgot we changed our return flight which is now Monday. A day of rest before the trip home will be useful.
