The last load…
Had the Angus cattle fed by 6am to give them time to eat their breakfast before the lorry arrived on to take them to the mart at St Boswells.
Was getting on quite well loading them until a big petted blk decided to shove his way back out the lorry before the door was shut. He then got out a gate that someone hadn’t shut behind them ( not me ) and headed off round the yard. So had to move the lorry , get him back round in beside the heifers and try again. I must be getting a wee bit more laid back in my old age cos there wasn’t even too much swearing !
Any way , had them sold by half 12. They sold quite well , and are away to Aberdeenshire, Bathgate and Duns. After I’d been round the ringside to speak to the buyers , I had a quick lunch in the canteen, gave the 2 terrorist co pilots a wee walk round the mart yard then headed up the road.
Just back when the lorry arrived in with 13 tons of seed barley. So no doubt now it has arrived the dry weather will turn back to winter ! And again, some of this morning’s sale money spent already . It never ends…..
In extra photos , a protesting pickup and waiting to go into the ring ….
