SedberghWI Bookclub
An early start today as we were having some work done on our trees. I also went on the bus to Kendal while I still can. We are being quoted misleading statistics to justify cancelling our bus service. We are told that the average numbers of people using the Stagecoach bus is 15. This is the capacity of the volunteer minibus service we have therefore the volunteer bus can replace it. The purpose of my bus trip was to see how many people use the bus. I had not previously considered how our service runs, but found out there are two runs from Sedbergh to Kendal. The bus I usually use gives you 2 hours in Kendal. Not much time if you have things to do. Well there is a journey back to Sedbergh if you stay on the bus. This is what I did. Three people used a 40 seat bus! The return to Kendal had no passengers. This is why the stats are so bad.
In the afternoon I went to the Sedbergh Bookclub. We dad read The illuminations by Andrew O’Hagan. A bit of a marmite book. I struggled with the audio version, but it has some rave reviews.
