Swan In Widow's Weeds
We had a visit from the vicar today. My daughter and I are pleased because we finally have MrQ's Order of Service sorted.
Another strange coincidence today. Just before Mish and I left for Fishers Green for the first time since MrQ died I received an email from my sister asking whether the dress code is traditional or jazzy. I told her that we are wearing black and that I do like to see the womenfolk at a funeral dressed smartly and respectfully in black.
I dodged the hail showers and as I walked over the wobbly bridge in the sunshine I spotted a shape in the willows. It was a beautiful black swan. I've only seen these a couple of times before. They're not native to the UK, they originated in Australia. The very small population here originates from escapes from ornamental lakes. We have a few breeding pairs in the UK. This one was enjoying eating the goat willow catkins. I've added the complete bird to extras.
PS I heard a chiffchaff singing its name for the first time this year.
