Lost in Thought

Admiral Cowan's Headstone

For a small historical project I am working on.

Admiral Walter Cowan was a naval officer most active in the period around the First World War e.g. at the battle of Jutland.

By the end of the war he had been promoted to Admiral and had command of the 1st Light Cruiser Squadron.

In early 1919 he was involved in the Baltic Campaign which although not entirely successful, helped with the establishment of Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania and to some extent, Finland as we now understand them.
We may be needing someone like him again soon?

After 'retirement' he lived in Kineton and is buried not far from the end of our road.
