A (short) walk in the park
I'm steadily coughing less and feeling better. So as well as getting out to the park briefly to enjoy the emerging blossom, I logged onto Zoom for the regular Weds eve Greek class, and enjoyed it.
Today's news nugget from the US was a real Through the Looking Glass item (as if we didn't already have a long list of those). Both the NY Times and MSNBC report that House Republicans have used a procedural device to "redefine time". Trump currently has emergency powers that allow him to issue all these orders about tariffs. But Congress can challenge this, and force a vote on the tariff measures within a 15 day time limit. This is what House Democrats were planning to do.
So Republicans have voted to define all the remaining Congress working days in the session as one day (for this particular purpose). No time limit can be triggered. Trump retains absolute power.
