Restored Gateway

When a new bridge was being installed in the Braid Burn Park one of the gate piers was severely damaged by a delivery lorry; the head of the pier shifted and the urn was toppled to the ground, stonework broken and chipped.

Category C listed they were made in 1815 as the gates to the drive of Comiston House, moved to the entrance to the Braid Burn park and have stood in this position since 1937.

We walked along today to inspect the newly-erected replacement.
