Art Quilt at the Museum

At The John and Mabel Ringling Museum in Sarasota, FL.

I was very happy to go to the Ringling Museum today with a friend of mine. The art quilt shared here was created by Peg Normandin, a member of The South Sarasota Modern Quilt Guild. The Ringling Museum has a Community Gallery and this was where we saw it. The members of the group had a challenge... to create a quilt inspired by the 1950's and 60's Mid Century Modern Astro-Futurism trend. What a delight to find these modern art quilts there!

The Ringling also holds a painting by my Great Uncle, William Glackens, in it's permanent collection. Sadly, after 15 years of "visiting" his painting at the museum, they have changed the display in the room where it was located. Museums do change their displays, but I was still sad it wasn't there. When fellow blipper, rower2012 visited my husband and I in 2016, he took took a photo of me beneath the painting and blipped about it! You can see his blip by following that link.

But all in all, it was a lovely day with many wonderful things to see and an enjoyable day spent with a friend.
