Taking it all in
Our final morning in New York. We headed for Hamilton Park, New Jersey only to realise, too late, that there are two and we needed the one in Weehawken (rather than Hoboken), as a result we missed the blue hour. It was the first misstep from our leader Lee, who other than that had provided a fantastic few days, going above and beyond.
We were opposite 47th Street and the USS Intrepid and Concorde across the Hudson River. It was a truly awe impressive final location with views from the tip of Manhattan in the south to Upper West Side in the north (see extra).
After breakfast it was the goodbyes and I headed to B&H Photo to pick up an order I'd made the day before. Nothing exciting, just some rubber feet for my tripod as I had lost one on the first morning. There were other locations we'd not visited which really needed to be ticked off like Times Square and Central Park, where I had a spot of lunch (joined by dozens of sparrows who certainly took advantage of the visitors).
In the end I walked 8 miles which would help tire me out for the flight back. I shared a taxi with another couple of the guests on the tour, before checking in and taking advantage of an upgrade which allowed me a few minutes in the private lounge before boarding. Business class included a lay flat seat which meant I actually slept properly for the first time on a long haul flight, bliss!
