Taken on the journey between my mum's, where I had a good time meeting some of her friends, and my uncle's, which we check up on regularly now that he's in a care home.

Only his many books live there now - mostly law tomes and biographies of people who don't interest me - so I was very surprised on a previous visit to stumble across a large, heavy book entitled Brick - A World History, with fabulous photos. I looked inside the front cover: 'To [my uncle], in celebration of your 70th birthday, with love from [my mum].

Several bricks clunked neatly into place.

I was travelling in the wrong direction last time but today? Well, obviously, I filched it.
