Repairs in history.
This is a shot of an old coaching inn which has been used as a home for at least the last half century, and from the state of the stables and old coach house at the end of the yard, more likely since Victorian times. This is close to my childhood home and the children who lived there were my age, we used to disappear into the old buildings and play for hours.
The building has been needing TLC for a while and the couple who lived there had been getting on by the end. The walls have been stripped and redone, when they took out the main fire place they found another one behind it! The windows in some cases had fallen apart and when opened by the builders actually fell apart with the glass dropping out. The garden had become over grown and the guy working in it had no idea he was working towards a pond! with a chain saw in hand.
It has been nice to see the gradual recovery of this lovely old house, new stairs and windows, cleaned and repaired in a gentle and caring manner. The house is coming back to life slowly and with care, the memories of playing in the old buildings are being overlaid with new walls and fixed doors.
I plan to take another pic when its done and you can see how good it looks.
