Pewsham (Sunday 9th March 2025)
As a member of the Wilts and Berks Canal Trust I have been reading about all the renovation and clearances being carried out at Pewsham and Naish Hill, so on this afternoon I set off to Chippenham to explore the locks at Pewsham. When I got there I discovered that the building works were behind metal barriers, severely limiting photography (see Extra). I walked down to Bottom Lock, below which the boat Boswell was moored (see second Extra) and then returned by a different route, a footpath that went past Middle Lodge Farm and emerged on Forest Lane, which led back to the car. It was on this path that I took this shot, looking back, a belated submission for Joe Tree Day.

Mahavishnu Orchestra - Miles Beyond (recorded August 1972)
This track was on the second album by John McLaughlin's Mahavishnu Orchestra, Birds Of Fire. I didn't own the vinyl album but I did see them live in Birmingham at around that time. This track was dedicated to McLaughlin's former bandleader Miles Davis. It was chosen for The Chain on this morning's Radcliffe-Maconie show (R6M).
