Life in a Northern Town

By kagsy

Nice, old and new.

Today was overcast, so after a lovely quiet morning at the pool, we decided it would be cool enough to climb the hill overlooking the old town, to see the cascade and the panoramic views.

Wrong!! It is never cool enough to do anything. But after yet another sweaty hike, the views were worth it. I've had to pick one with little sky as I think there was a lump of ice-cream on the lens for all the photos - it was mandarin flavour sorbet, very delicious it was too!

The old town is full of higgledy piggledy narrow streets full of shops and cafes. It feels very Italian, but then Italy is just a few miles east of here. The dividing line with the new town is the Blvd. Jean Jaurres, lined with smart hotels and expensive shops.

Another hike back to the apartment ( I will be like Jessica Ennis by the end of the week) and now we are slumped around wishing we had chocolate. Some talk of going jet skiing, but that involves another hike back up the hill so we shall see.

If you are interested, here's another view, which I may have faffed about with a little.
I think I went a whole Blip without mentioning that it's hot.......
