Tiptoe through the tulips

What a joy to wake up and no computer sitting blinking at me.

'come on Helen,  log on, see what nasty emails are sitting waiting'

Nothing.   I drank a cupa tea and read some of my book whilst Si started on the new green house.

In the afternoon we took a run to the allotment.  Si was doing his welcome.to a new member thing.

I bimbled up to our plot and listened.

Last week.when we were up there were at least three woodpeckers banging their heads.  We search the tops of the branches but we couldn't find them

I took the binoculars.

Not a single clunk.

I had a nice bimble, I sat on Allan's bench (he's dead so he didn't mind)

I sat next to the water pump and watched the wrens and robins rejoice.

I wandered back to our plot and sat and waited for him.  I heard him say goodbye and confirm he would send details by emails

We have a lot of people applying for a plot, and they pay their money then arrive at the plot and say 'why is it not dug over, why is there nothing growing'

They expect to walk in, to a ready made and well kept  plot; ignoring the fact that they have been waiting for 12 months for a plot ..,

Plot holders who give up are either retiring, Injured, fed up, fell out with someone on the committee.  Or just can't be bothered.  The council write to them three times over six months and if the plot does not improve... Then they take it back

When we arrived back in 2017. We had a rectangle of grass.  No bed. No soil no fences ....   They don't know they are well off when they get a plot with a f nice!
