This Is Not A Painting
It is a painting of a painting. But also, it is a painting.
Rockwell got it in his head that he would paint someone looking at a Pollock and didn't want to simply copy a Pollock, but make one. So he spent a couple of weeks practicing until he was able to replicate Pollock's technique to the point that even Pollock experts thought it was a Pollock.
Rockwell is largely misunderstood and under appreciated.
Also, I don't think it's generally appropriate to Blip a painting in this way since I did not make it, nor did I see it in person, but rules are meant to be broken and it is in the service of a great debate I am preparing for on my podcast.
