International Women’s Day
This sculpture in Govan is of Mary Barbour leading the Glasgow rent strikers in 1915.
Mary Barbour ( 1875-1958) was a Scottish political activist, community leader, local councillor and magistrate who played an outstanding part in the Red Clydeside Movement in the early 20th century.
She was also one of the great founders of the Woman’s Peace Crusade.
