The Welsh are in Town
Edinburgh was a sea of red as I tripped the light fantastic back from town this morning- the Welsh are in town. It’s seems to be very much a welcome escape from the domestic front for the male WRU followers. They were abroad in gangs, some happier and less inhibited than others as I tried to pick my way up the Bridges. It’s always good to host the Welsh, they are a cheery, colourful lot and we don’t have the history with them that we have with the English but I’m not sure I can bear to watch the match later…..
With #1 son and #1 daughter in law coming to stay at the beginning of the week in order to celebrate the twins 19th birthday, I have been out hunter gathering for ingredients to prepare a chicken casserole.
It’s another mild day today - International Women’s Day. There was a big 6:45am sunrise swim at Porty but it was a bit early for me to get there by Shank’s pony and public transport and also I’m not keen on dipping in a crowd, so I didn’t participate.
The Meadows are full again of people sitting in the sun on the grass, people out walking with prams and dogs and cyclists scooting along the cycling lanes. I see two young men bare chested, they are taking advantage of the 14°. The whole scene looks so summery that it hard to hear that the cold north winds are back on Monday bringing temperatures down to single figures again.
