LEARNING ABOUT CRICKET BEFORE THE SEASON STARTS

Hello Lovely Blippers,

We heard Mr and Mrs. HCB chatting a couple of days ago about sorting out the car parking ready for when Mr. HCB starts going to Bristol to watch the cricket, which would you believe, starts in mid April!  How can it be that time already?

Mr. HCB thought it would be good to educate us about the rules of cricket - and there are many - so he got out the Super Cricket Game and started to tell us about cricket positions, the size of the pitch, how many men played, and he also mentioned things like “silly mid on”, “bowling a maiden over”, “short square leg”, “owzat” and “out for a duck”!   What silly expressions and we are sure that dear Admirer, not being from the UK, would be giggling at some of them.  

Well, it was really all too much for us to take in, but he says he will tell us more silly expressions very soon that will make us laugh.

He also mentioned that when he goes down to Bristol, he always buys an ice cream - which he says is very good - from the Italian couple who come to every match with their ice cream van - so perhaps he will take us sometime so we can try it.

It just remains for us to tell you to BE KIND, because you never know what someone else is going through - they might be putting on a brave, smiley face, but underneath, they may be hurting - so BE KIND.
