Slug bug
Busy day of catching up on camera club stuff - whew! Getting there though, and I'm sure the effort will be worth it in the long run.
I'd noticed these wee things recently and thought I'd grab a pic whilst one was sitting (lying....crawling....slithering...?) in a reasonably accessible position. It's like this one I saw a while back, just not as hairy. Thanks to keenken who identified that one as a steelblue ladybug larva, I'm thinking this is probably a fungus-eating lady-bug larva as there are plenty of those about. Interestingly, according to iNaturalist, fungus-eating ladybirds are a non-native species in the North Island of New Zealand, first introduced to Auckland in 1985.......about the same time I arrived so we have something in common!
