Ghost Tree (Detail)

Firstly, this is not actually a ghost, nor is it a tree.

It is the mark left on a wall where ivy previously grew but has since been removed.

The pattern has been formed because the ivy glue sticking it to the paint was stronger than the adhesion between the old paint and the bricks.  When the ivy went, the paint went with it.
