Gulfoss, Iceland
After only 3 hours sleep (just me), and overnight snow, we joined a group for a Golden Circle bus tour and saw the following. My extras follow the order of our day. (There are far too many but we saw so many amazing sights in one day, and I don't have time now to turn them into collages.)
1) Left sunny Reykjavik and climbed up through the snowy mountains to the plateau in the clouds
2) Thingvellir National Park, where two tectonic plates me, where the Icelandic President has his Summer house, and where the Vikings used to hold their parliament
3) The amazing waterfall of Gulfoss
4) Visited Icelandic Horses
5) Geysir to see the fourth highest geyser in the world and other geothermal activity
6) The volcanic crater of Kerid containing a frozen lake below
Back in Reykjavik, hot chocolate in the Concert Hall then a quick look around the harbour. Back to the hotel for a brief rest, then out to supper, and a visit to the supermarket, before joining the 9.30pm Northern Lights tour for a second attempt! The skies are clear tonight, keep everything crossed!!
Thank you for your kind stars and hearts for yesterday's Icelandic blip.
