Diary of an Edinburgher

A BIG walk!

Archie's friends, J & A, were taking him out today, but I wanted to get some new treats for them to take. So we walked down to the local hardware shop, which also sells doggie stuff. I put his harness on, in readiness for his walk later, and I used the extending lead. Magic! He walked SO NICELY - no weaving from side to side making me change hands. He didn't stop to sniff/piddle every few yards - the occasional tug was used - but really, it was so much easier. At times, I wondered if he was still there - there was no pull on the lead, he just trotted along beside me.

We got a couple of bags of small vegetarian doggie snacks and then came back to pop into the newly re-vamped, new owners, Red Box. Some people will not like the makeover and the lack of a big breakfast/brunch/lunch menu, but the inside is nice - a huge old map of the area showing the tram coming up Marchmont Road...  I had a scone and a coffee.

Then we set off across the Links to meet A at the cafe. She and J were going to take Archie for a big walk. And they did! Five hours later, they brought him back. Mind you, J had kindly texted a couple of times to say where they were and all was fine, just in case we were worrying... They were letting Archie off the lead and hoping that he didn't run off over the hills. Of course not! They came back for a coffee. AND they had an early birthday present for him!

I spent a couple of hours trying to get my new tv remote linked to the new media box. We're using the old remote which is fine, but the new one should connect!! And the new one has voice commands, which I quite fancy. Of course, you can't speak to an actual person, it's all 'bots' who answer questions. The upshot is, the bot has decided to send me a new remote... But the remote is not the problem, the light flashes on it, while the media box doesn't respond. Which is weird, as the television is working.
