Sowing Plot
Such a sunny day we have been working in the Drying Ground again. Tony has been digging out and sawing off the roots from the tree with ash dieback which is in the way of the entrance to the ground. Neighbour Jonnie will appear with his chain saw this weekend hopefully and we'll take down the tree with a band of helpers and lots of rope!
Meanwhile, I was tackling the bramble patch. I discovered it had been threaded through with runners from the honeysuckle which was a bit of a pain but they were easy to pull through and out, and quite satisfying. Thankfully less thorny than the brambles and a pleasant rest!
We paused mid morning for a cuppa and were rewarded by two red kites appearing in the sky above us, the first I've seen this far over from the Moor. Let's hope they will be regular visitors.
After lunch, Tony went up to the allotment to wash down the greenhouse whilst I did a further hour in the ground clearing the area we want to site the bug hotel of brambles and honeysuckle.
My blip is taken looking across the cleared bracken where we will be sowing the wildflower seed over the coming weeks.
It's World Book Day tomorrow and I'm looking forward to seeing Euan as his favourite book character, 'The First Cat in Space.'
