Christmas roses

I toured the garden in the sunshine. It was quite warm in the sun but still bitterly cold in the shadows. I went up by the summerhouse (shed) and discovered the Christmas roses in a patch of sun.
I was dismayed at the number of quite large holes in the flower beds, with ruins of bulbs scattered nearby. I am wondering if they are too big for squirrels and could be foxes, but do foxes dig up bulbs?
