Eye to Eye

A hawfinch on the forest floor.

Millie and I went down to the Forest of Dean this afternoon; it was glorious in the sunshine, though I forgot the dog lead! It actually didn't matter a jot as she was very well behaved and when a deer jumped across the track 100yds in front of us she was so busy snuffling around that she missed it. Cottoning on to its scent later she didn't go far and came back without too much hassle.

I opted to see the hawfinches again under the yew trees feeding on the yew berry seeds but it's always dark under there though I did get quite a few shots.
