Upcycled

The Ards Man and I have been married for over forty years and we got this Stag chest of drawers very early on in the proceedings. In fact, we may have bought it during the first year of our marriage.

The mother of one of my best pals worked in a large, prestigious department store in Belfast called Anderson and McAuley; it’s long gone now. Mrs N helped us to buy the furniture on her staff discount and that’s probably the reason we could afford it at that time. In its original iteration the chest of drawers was mahogany, which was too dark for our new, restful colour scheme a few years ago.

The chest was evicted from our bedroom into a ‘spare’ room, which in turn was renovated just before Christmas. It was too good to sell on (we wouldn’t get enough money back for it) so the AM decided that a restoration was in order! So a tin of Farrow and Ball paint later, we have this lovely set of drawers back in the bedroom. The AM is pleased, as he has his clothes in it. :-)
