Blipfoto Subscription Rise 2025

Here at Blip Central we’ve been continuing quietly going about our roles, running the site on behalf of the everyone here in the community.
 
It is now nine years since the community bought Blipfoto, and the re-introduction of subscription fees to cover the costs we have to pay to run the site. Our intention was to create a sustainable site, with costs covered by subscriptions received from the membership. In the intervening years we have not increased our fees. Inevitably, as time has passed, our costs have increased, most noticeably in the last few years of high inflation.  Our Technical Team has trimmed costs where it can, mainly in data storage, but we now need to raise the subscription price to ensure that the money we collect is covering the costs of maintaining Blipfoto. 

From 1st April this year annual fees will increase by around 10% to £40 per year (this is converted to 50 US dollars or 48.50 Euros if you pay in those currencies). For those members who pay by monthly subscription, it will increase to £4 per month (or 5 US dollars or 4.85 Euros if you pay in those currencies).  In comparison, inflation has increased by more than 34% since 2016.  We believe that despite having to increase these fees, they still represent amazing value for our Blipfoto offer.
 
We are letting you know about this increase in advance.  This gives you an opportunity to take advantage of the existing annual rate of £36.50.  If you renew before 1st April your next year’s membership will be added on to the end of your current membership period.  This is also true if you buy more additional years in advance of the new rate being introduced.
 
Any discounts you receive from the shares you bought during the community buy out will still apply to any payments.
 
Subscriptions are our only income stream and we are indebted to those on Blipfoto who take out a paid membership for supporting the community in this way.
 
We want to assure you that Blipfoto is in a stable financial position and will be here for many years to come.  This adjustment of pricing reflects what has been happening in the wider world and should not be a cause for any alarm. We trust you will understand why this has had to be done. 

We also encourage any of our free members to consider buying a membership.  While the benefits you receive, such as the ability to add extras, a gallery view, customising your thumbnails and being able to download your originals, are valuable in themselves, more importantly you are also contributing to the running of Blipfoto, maintaining and improving the site and protecting our precious memories for many years to come.
