Two and three quarter hours for Click and Collect!

I went to Tesco Click and Collect today. The staff member who brought out my groceries was really helpful - the bananas were over ripe and two of the chilled items were short dated. She took the items back and brought me out better ones! She had offered to refund but I needed the items so she helped a lot by changing them. Also, when later I told her I was waiting for breakdown rescue, she offered to take my frozen food back in and put it in the freezer while I waited.

When I was ready to drive away then wouldn’t start! It sounded like a flat battery. I have breakdown insurance but rarely need it. I didn’t like their ‘new’ system. When I phoned and got through, the automated menu told me they would send me a text link. The link was to a place where I had to type everything in …. and if they didn’t quite like the answer, the ‘continue’ button was greyed out and I couldn’t move on!!! In bright sunlight, reading and typing stuff into a tiny phone screen isn’t ideal!!! But eventually human came on the phone line and I didn’t have to type any more. I was told I would have to wait up to an hour. While waiting( for longer than a hour? I phoned around for battery prices.

The rescue man said I needed a new battery. He offered to fit one but his price was £125. I declined and after a jump lead start, I got one from my local auto spares shop for £82. I had phoned my handyman while I was stuck at Tesco because he had been due to arrive at my house to do handyman things, and I needed to tell him I wasn’t home. He said he would fit the battery for me - he did, and he also put a new plug on my burnt out washing machine plug. All’s well that ends well??

What next??? A month ago I had the sudden diagnosis of kidney failure end stage 5. Then I had a few minor mishaps followed by blocked drains. And yesterday my washing machine plug burnt out. Today I had a dead battery. I left for Tesco at 1.50 and got home at 4.45!
