Paraglider at Coaley Peak

I watched this man for bout fifteen minutes as he tried to get airborne without success. He then moved to a place a few yards down the steep hillside, which I think might have had better uplift from the slope. It worked.

As he flew away I took a few shots as the light was fading and he disappeared above the ridge steadily getting higher.

I've never been interested in flying but have had friends for whom it was a wonderful hobby. We see them regularly in our area as the prevailing westerly winds rising over the Cotswold escarpment can bring excellent conditions. There is competition from the more traditional gliders by a dedicated glider airfield within a mile of this spot.
