Fantastic Mr Fox (again)
It's around lunchtime and I'm looking out of our upstairs window. He sees me. Or something anyway. He looked like he was having a nap, head barely visible, when we spotted each other.
He's on the roof of a derelict building that forms the boundary of our garden/courtyard. Less than 10m away.
About 50m to the right is the High Street and 100m to the left is the road that runs past the entrance to our houses. The Common is about another 300m beyond that. I assume that's where he came from. But I can't imagine him strolling around in broad daylight.
There's been a lot of bird-type activity in the vegetation over the past few days; goldfinches, blackbirds, wrens and numerous small brown birds.
I last saw him in October 22. I assume it was him ..... what are the chances?
It's just gone 5.00pm when I post this. Mrs Blackbird is back rooting around in the ivy, so I assume he's gone.
