Westminster

Up to London for a meeting today in Portcullis House (the building on the right across the Thames). It is part of the Parliamentary Estate, and houses lots of rooms and spaces for MPs and their constituents to meet, as well as meeting rooms where Select Committees conduct their business and offices for some MPs. I assumed the building was very old - it feels quite old inside - but reading the pamphlet I'd picked up about the building, I see that it was built at the end of the 1990s at the same time as the Westminster tube station was remodelled with the extension to the Jubilee Line.

Before the meeting, we had a short tour of the House of Commons Library - somewhere that the general public aren't allowed to go. I wasn't allowed to take any photographs, but it certainly looked just as you might imagine an old library to look - which is rather bizarre considering how new it is!
