The Road Home

Book club last night - The Road Home, Rose Treman

Lev is on his way from Eastern Europe to Britain, seeking work. Behind him loom the figures of his dead wife, his beloved young daughter and outrageous friend Rudi who - dreaming of the wealthy West - lives largely for his battered Chevrolet.

Really mixed reaction to this book, half loved it, other half found it depressing although all agreed very well written. I found it quite thought provoking but a bit far fetched at the end which I think spoiled it for me.

Macy seemed to enjoy it though and it did get a healthy overall score of 7/10.
