Your Work Matters To God

The sun was trying very hard to shine through the clouded morning sky as we gathered at FBC  to worship and honor God on this Texas Independence Day that fell on Sunday this year.  We began our service with a congregational song, followed by the welcome from Pastor Wes.  The choir, orchestra and all our talented accompanists presented an uplifting rendition of the song, "Hymn Of The Ages" after which the congregation continued the worship and praise with some of my favorite songs.  Then Pastor Wes directed our attention to the passage in Ephesians 6:5-9 in which Paul addresses slaves and masters.  Paul in no way condones slavery, but in his time, it was a fact of life for many people and so he was led by the Holy Spirit to encourage the people to do whatever work they did as if they were doing it for the Lord and not just for earthly rewards such as wages, or praise or honors or status.  He encouraged them to be obedient to those in authority of them as long as they were not directed to do things that would violate God's law.  Pastor Wes said we should apply the same standards to whatever job we have today----and we all have jobs to do for God, from the youngest student to the oldest retiree.  Pastor Wes had much more to say about how everything we do matters to God and you can find it all in the Live-stream which would be a good investment of your time.....
