Back "Home"

A(nother) mammoth travel day as we bade a sad yet fond farewell to Kenya this morning, and headed to the airport for our flight to Mauritius, where we rejoined our storm-tossed ship.

A 4 1/2 hour flight brought us to Port Louis, and we were back on board by 8:00 p.m., tired, rumpled, hungry, but happy to be "home".  While we were off enjoying the wonders of the Masai Mara, our poor fellow cruise passengers spent two rocky days 50 miles off the coast of Mauritius, waiting for a big cyclone to pass by.  It didn't sound like fun at all!

When we got back to our cabin, this is what we found waiting for us!  So sweet!!!!!  (Also see extra!)

Now, to make up for lost time, we will be steaming straight to Durban in order to get to Cape Town in time for the next changeover day (when one cruise leg ends and another begins ... some passengers disembark, and new ones come onboard.). This will mean three straight sea days ahead.

What an amazing experience we had in the bush -- one we would love to repeat some time in the future!

Extra:  A picture of our safari group taken yesterday evening -- from left to right:  Dave, Tina, Mr. W, me, Ian, Reva, Cynthia, Dave, Rolf's mom and dad (I have yet to learn their names!  They do not speak a word of English!), Yvonne and Rolf.  In front is Sufiya -- our absolutely amazing, lovely, cheerful, organized, enthusiastic Silversea Shore Excursion Concierge Team member -- what a gem she is!
