Joe Tree Day 2025, with bridge and reflections

This is New Bridge, Calver. We passed it today when wandering along the banks of the River Derwent on a beautiful 8 mile circular walk in the Peak District with my Mr hazelh's sister Sam and her fiancé Alan. I'm glad that the shot includes some trees and their reflections, and hope that these can count as a nod to Joe Tree Day.

Apart from some muddy sections (see the first extra, in which I seem to have shrunk), the walking conditions were beautiful. We had blue sky and sunshine all along the route, and in the lower sections it was very still. We could see for miles across the countryside from the upper part of the walk along the Curbar Edge (second extra).

We stopped at a pub for drinks on the way back to the house. My pint of pear cider was very refreshing. Once home again, the four of us enjoyed supper together, and also seeing (our other) nephew Paddy* with his girlfriend Dani.

*Not our nephew Paddy, the son of my middle sister, who lives in Portobello. When they were children he was 'big Paddy' and the Nottingham one 'wee Paddy', taking into account the five year age difference between them. This naming convention no longer works because the older one is now about 5'10" in height and the younger one 6'4"!

Exercise today: walking (21,553 steps)
