Iris aucheri
A debutant on my Blip journal .... I think! I have grown the horticultural clone of this once or twice in the past, I even won a class at a show with it before Ruth was born. However, it never stayed with me more than a few years. This plant I have raised from seed received from Gothenburg Botanic Garden a few years ago, before new regulations on the international sharing of seed limited their exchange to botanic gardens and research institutes. It seems a strong grower. Only time will tell. The flowers appear above leek like foliage. It's about a fifteen inches tall.
A gentle start, I've been feeling a bit wrung out so despite the sunshine I didn't rush into the day. Various household chores done this morning plus watering in the greenhouse. After lunch a long walk with Meg ... well long timewise, I let her set the pace so we meander quite a bit. It was nice to meet M and Oscar for part of it which gave Meg another dog to run with. Then a spell at pottery, all the items I have in production now glazed - bar one small vase in today's bisque firing.
Jamie and Chris came round to share a slow cooked casserole this evening. Chris and I planned dates for a trip to collect his stuff from Mum's house in London.
