Joseph ... Small Tree
We've had a fun day in London with daughter#1 and family. I was hoping to get grandson Joe to pose next to a larger tree for a Joe Tree Day blip, but he wouldn't co-operate. I got this more spontaneous shot while we were waiting for his mum outside a super bookshop, Daunt Books in Marylebone High Street. She bought me a lovely book about Wes Anderson as an extra birthday present.
Earlier we had a nice lunch in Côte. The waitress bent the rules a bit and let us have a £33 bottle of Crémant FOC, a birthday email offer for me, even though we were mainly going for the prix fixe menu.
We then had a look around The Wallace Collection art museum. There were some very intelligent and insightful questions from Joe as we went around. I will give no more details, though his mum was inspired to buy a book - Why Is Art Full Of Naked People? (subtitled & other vital questions about art) - which should come in useful.
Before we made our way back to the station we called in to a speciality coffee bar, SHOT. Prices for the special coffees ranged from £10 a cup up to £265 (yes you read that right) for a cup of Japan Typica Natural. I made do with a £6 house americano.
Grandson Rory seems to be fully recovered now from his bout of scarlet fever. I realised as we were saying goodbye that I hadn't got a photo of him. I've attached a not too sharp extra, my excuse being I had to take it very quickly before Joe photobombed it.
Back home safely now after a delayed return train - firstly there was a 'disruptive' passenger on the train at Marylebone, then we got stuck at Gerrards Cross due to trespassers on the line. Only 10 minutes late though, so no compensation this time.
