Farewell Bali

As usual I was awake before the birds so packed, graduated and ready to go by 8.25. Peter arrived didn't after, asking with his wife and 2 of his kids (Ramadan school hols) so thoughts of sitting in the back were thwarted. They'd left at 5 am..

It was an odd journey south and much quicker than anticipated. As usual if played too cautiously in my flight booking. Some times was used on a tortuous back road journey to the main road to Sanur. This was so I could have lunch which actually was a good idea. I had salad and my final 2 Bintangs in the restaurant garden. Then off to the airport.

Arrived just over 3 hours early but actually the time went quite quickly. There was the usual queuing for very slow screening but their E passport gates are v efficient. Bought some gin and other bits and pieces at duty free, 5% discount from Dufry, had a glass of Indonesian rosé and went back to duty free to spend all my rupiahs.

We took off in time and landed slightly early. Usual long trek from the gate to anywhere but even with the e-gatr refusing to read my passport I was still back in the apartment just over 99 minutes after touchdown. Better than last time.

Interesting Grab driver and we chatted about lots including why Ramadan started in Indonesia today and Malaysia tomorrow. Are 7.30 pm the pilot announced it was time to break fast and the 2 young men opposite broke out the water and chocolate.

Apartment was stiflingly hot but I found some bubbles and a beer while watching yesterday's 'Death in Paradise'. Bed now I think.

Extra is the plane and the Garuda.
