Waiting for the owl

What a glorious sunny day we have had.  Still relatively cold but so good to have some more sunshine.  I had the usual sprint cycle and later Pilates class at the gym.  I met up with my friend before Pilates for a coffee and chat.

Later in the afternoon my husband started on the process of removing a pear tree from the garden.  It's not that large and he made a good start on it.  At that time I was considering going back to try and get some photos of the Barn Owl.  We had both gone out the previous evening and only briefly spotted it before it became too dark.  So we set off again.  Another person we had met before was also there.  Somebody else turned up asking about an object in the sky that appeared to be moving descending, see extra but we weren't sure what it was.  Then our neighbours also turned up with their dog.  We had chatted to them the previous evening when we saw the owl.  Tonight we stood waiting as sunset approached and then it gradually became darker.  Suddenly one of us spotted it on the other side of the river across the flood plains.  It was too far away and although it did move back towards us it then disappeared over the trees behind.  It seems this is going to be trickier than I thought to get a good image, especially since you are working against the failing light.
