Day 28
Day 28 of my Gratitude/Walk/Photo Challenge.
Today I am grateful for those bloody delicious wee Portuguese pastries, Pastel de Nata.
A year ago I had never heard of them. Until I took my friend Marlene for an appointment that culminated in a trip to the supermarket. When I got her home, she offered me a cup of tea and produced a pack of two Pastel de Natas. I was totally won over. I enjoyed them enormously during my adventures in Spain and Portugal last year, and they're now a favourite wee treat; especially as I always remember my cuppas, chats, and Pastel de Nata with Marlene. I always take her one when I visit her in hospital. So, when we stumbled upon a teeny wee shop that only made Pastel de Natas today, I had to buy some. And they were absolutely delicious. Even better than in Portugal. A fitting tribute to a lovely lady who turns 83 tomorrow but is sadly still in hospital. Marlene and Pastel de Nata will always be intertwined in my memory.
My tracker is trying to tell me I've walked almost 13 miles today. It's wrong. We did walk for miles, and climbed more bloody steps, but I suspect the total is about half of that...
A lovely day. A long lie. A leisurely breakfast. A body that felt almost human. Some culture and history. A snack in the gardens of the Palace. Some shopping. A delicious meal in an amazing wee hidden away place. And good company!
Photo from camera so different to Facebook selection. Córdoba really is a beautiful city.
