Spinning a yarn?

A busy start to the day before heading off to meet with crafty friends for another UFO get together. My Unfinished Object was the same as last week, a light coat, again I was grateful for advice from others. Others turned up with crochet work, knitting, artful mending of crockery, its name escapes me and a spinning wheel, the colour of the yarn is gorgeous. 
A couple hours of quick witted chat and much laughter, I prefer this humour to most we hear on Radio 4 these days. Afterwards a drive into Tobermory to meet a cat friend for lunch, another very pleasant couple hours chatting and I think the word is giggling, do older women giggle? There must be another word somewhere between laughing and giggling.
