Derelict...
It's been a while since I've stopped to grab some pictures of the old abby near us ... it never disappoints and is one of the few things that benefits from being photographed in full sun. I love all the textures in this particular view as well as the faded red of the door which breathes life into the image. This glorious old building has been abandoned for several decades and has been ruined inside by vandals ... but it was purchased a year or so ago and we are all hopeful that plans to make it into a catering and lodging facility will come to fruition. We'll see. Meanwhile, thanks to Marlieske for continuing to host Derelict Week!
I am heading out to lunch with a friend today - haven't seen her since before I went to TX so looking forward to catching up. She and her husband own an organic farm a few miles from us. I'm curious to get her take on the labor situation since they, like most of our local farmers, rely on immigrant labor to work the fields in the summer. Last we talked, the government had been holding up the work permits that are usually no problem for seasonal labor. I'm not sure how our government officials think produce is going to be delivered to grocery store shelves without immigrant labor. We shall see.
In 24 hours, our radon levels have dropped from 16 down to under 4 so the remediation has done exactly what we hoped. We are now under safe levels. Money well spent.
Heading into the weekend and kicking it off with virtual cocktails with my besties tonight.
